戦死した軍人の夫を想う失意の日々を送りながら、

医療の道で生きるすべを見出していた。

そんな折、彼女は

アメリカの新聞記者マーク・エリオットと出会う。

お互いに惹かれ合うものを感じていた２人だったが、

その幸せは長くは続かなかった……。

　戦争によって引き離される男女を描いた、

いわゆる悲恋物語。

スタンダードな展開ながらも

主役２人の卓越した演技力に加え、

細やかな心理描写によって、

見事に感動させられてしまう、さすが名作！
